Edinburgh - charges dropped
09 December 2003 - SACC
Terrorism charges against nine Algerian men - including five from Edinburgh - arrested last December were dropped on Tuesday. The collapse of the case is bound to fuel suspicions that last year's arrests were part of a government effort to create a climate of fear in preparation for the Anglo-US attack on Iraq.
Colin Fox MSP (SSP) has tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament expressing concern over the arrests.
