Funeral of Sheku Bayoh
Sheku Bayoh's funeral will take place on Sunday 7th June 2015 in Kirkcaldy at, Kirkcaldy Islamic Centre Mosque, 1 St Mary Road KY1 2RQ. There will be a funeral procession starting at 12:00noon from Hayfield Road Kirkcaldy, where he died. Along the route the funeral cortege will stop at Kirkcaldy Police Station for a two minute silence. This will be followed with the coffin of Sheku Bayoh being taken to the Mosque for prayer and tributes. Sheku Bayoh will be laid to rest at the Dysart Muslim Cemetery.
Funeral reception will follow straight after at Temple Hall Community Centre, Beauly Place, Kirkcaldy, KY2 6EX. Well-wishers will be allowed to give their tributes and share their good memories about Sheku. Food and drinks will be served for free.
The Sheku Bayoh family says:
"We are kindly asking you to invite your friends and family to the funeral and reception, we need your support. Please do not hesitate to contact us in regards to the funeral."
We would ask everyone to be respectful of the family's request that the procession should be a peaceful dignified farewell to Sheku Bayoh.
The funeral will be followed at 4pm by a press conference at the Templehall Community Centre. Speakers include Sheku's family, solicitor Aamer Anwar and the Sierra Leone High Commissioner.
