LGBT Rights in Russia - Panel Discussion / Film Screenings

As the Sochi Winter Olympic Games approaches, Russian intolerance towards LGBT communities is coming increasingly under the spotlight. Amnesty International Society has teamed up with the Scotland-Russia Forum and the Edinburgh Film Guild to host a panel discussion on the LGBT situation in Russia. This will be followed by a series of short films.
Panellists: Ol’gerta Kharitonova / Sabine Hoffman (co-editors of the Russian lesbian journal Ostrov;), Chris Bryant MP (Vice-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Russia Group at Westminster), Olga Kurachyova (Moscow-based LGBT activist / journalist for Radio Svoboda), Dr Vikki Turbine (University of Glasgow), Dr Francesca Stella (University of Glasgow)

Programme:
- 3-4.30pm - Roundtable discussion / audience Q&A
- 4.30-5.30pm - Break for tea/coffee in the Lorimer Room
- 5.30-7pm - Short films
