Stop Pegida in Edinburgh
Scottish supporters of the racist Pegida movement are organising to demonstrate on Sat 21March in Edinburgh. The latest information (which may change) is that Pegida are meeting at Waverley train station at 2.30 to go to the Scottish Parliament (presumably for about 3pm). There will be a counter-rally, coordinated by UAF, outside the Scottish parliament from 2.30pm (subject to change to respond to Pegida activity).
The Pegida movement originated in Germany and its name is an acronym for "Patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the West". It held a rally in Dresden last month attended by 25,000 people This racist group is now trying to raise support in the UK.
The Pegida rally in Edinburgh is happening on the same day as the National Demo Against Racism and and Fascism in Glasgow. The Pegida rally is unlikely to be very large and should not deflect anti-racists from giving mass support to the demo in Glasgow. We cannot allow a handful of Nazis to disrupt our lon-planned demo to mark UN AntiRacism Day. But in any case, it's easy to participate in the Glasgow demo and oppose Pegida in Edinburgh.

Pegida have already changed their plans three times now and may do so again. Be ready to react quickly. An announcement will be made at the Glasgow demo on the latest developments. Pegida Nazis are not going to be allowed to march in Edinburgh unopposed.
