A event to explore ‘Right to Know’ provided by Freedom of Information (FOI) law and seeks to raise awareness about it amongst diverse communities.

* Overview of the Freedom of Information (FOI) “Right to Information” in Scotland * Hints and tips on making effective Freedom of Information (FOI) requests – i.e. how to get what you’re looking for while also managing your relations with an public authority * Access of FOI services provided by public services i.e. Councils, Police and NHS to the Equality Group and their impact * Examples of effective use of FOI : to gather information, prevent service closure, and influence the strategy/ policy * A “case-study”, involving a local FOI requester from a voluntary organisation talking about their personal experiences
