The Scottish Afghan Society held a protest outside Strathclyde Police HQ in Pitt Street, Glasgow on the afternoon of Tuesday 14 October. The protest follows growing complaints from members of Glasgow/Scotland'sMuslim community (incl. Scottish-born Pakistanis) about alleged harassment by Special Branch police officers at Glasgow Airport.
'We are fed up with the discriminatory policies of Strathclyde Police (Special Branch). We cannot bear the psychological torture anymore. The authorities treat us like terrorists, as well as putting pressure on ordinary muslims to become local informants and spies, but we are not going to be intimidated and pressured.' Mohammad Asif, President, Scottish Afghan Society
